My New Obsession

I’ve been knitting for most of my life.  I can remember sitting at recess in 6th grade, knitting away at some little project (trust me, it wasn’t geeky – I was cool…no, really).  My mom taught me way back when and it was something that just stuck with me.  Like riding a bike, my hands have just remembered how to move those needles no matter how long it had been since the last time I had picked them up.

I’ve expanded my knitting repertoire a bit since 6th grade and can do a couple of different types of stitches. I knit Peanut a blanket when I was pregnant (and quickly made a duplicate once I realized it was becoming a favorite), whipped up countless scarves and even bought my first set of circle needles a few years back to try my hand at felting bags.

But lately, I’ve strayed from my first love.  I have a new obsession.  At times I feel a bit guilty for abandoning the double needles…but, I just can’t help it.  I am OBSESSED with crocheting!!

I basically taught myself using various YouTube videos.  I would look at a pattern and Google each stitch or direction until I knew enough to get started.  It didn’t take long before I was pinning crochet projects like crazy and taking twice-weekly trips to Michael’s to buy another size crochet hook.  I can’t stop.  It’s just so easy and quick.

Here are a few of the projects that I’ve whipped up lately.

A stuffed owl for Peanut, a large basket to hold my works in progress and some cute little chair leg booties.

I’ve even added a couple of crochet hats to the Etsy shop.

I love, love, LOVE it!!  It’s just too bad I have to work, or sleep, or interact with other people and take care of my child (kidding!!), because I could sit and crochet all day!!  Stop by the shop and see what new items are being added daily.

  1. I love seeing the projects you're working on! I always say that one day I will expand my knitting repertoire by actually learning to knit with needles, but it never seems to happen. I TRIED crochet, but so far the experience has been not good haha! 😉 I will just live vicariously through you!

    1. I think it would be so hard for me to learn to knit right now. I have tried to teach others before, and it's just so hard to explain. It takes a lot of practice to get the feel for it and be comfortable with it. I guess i would say to start with big needles and medium yarn. 🙂

  2. Those chair leg booties are so perfect! I love it. I am hopeless when it comes to crocheting. Thanks for your message on my blog about going to bloggy bootcamp. I am excited/terrified to go. Do you live in the Minneapolis area? If so, it would be fun to meet up and talk all things blogging before the bootcamp. Let me know! Here is my email: Thanks, and I am happy to have found you beautiful blog!
