No Flowers Please

Two years ago, the meaning of Valentine's Day changed forever.  A day that is usually reserved for special gifts, cards or treats; a date night with your significant other; maybe a special party at work or school.  But, not for me.  I hate Valentine's Day.  Of course I'm not going to let my daughter miss out on the fun of exchanging valentines with her friends or getting dressed up in a cute 'love themed' outfit, but there will be no gifts given in my house, no flowers delivered, and definitely no "Happy Valentine's Day".

Because, for two years, February 14 has reminded me more than ever that life is not fair and more than love on this day, I feel pain and sadness. So excuse me while I shut my eyes and wait for all of the hearts and the cupids to disappear.

I miss you every day Sweet Baby Declan...
